Built was appointed to carry out complex alteration works within the iconic Powerscourt House, a protected 18th-century structure operating as a busy retail and hospitality destination. The project involved the removal of an existing staircase, installation of a new feature stair in a reconfigured location, alterations to shopfronts and kitchen areas, and extensive floor tiling. A key safety upgrade involved replacing a roller shutter with a one-hour fire-rated shutter to separate the car park from the main centre.
Live Environment & Heritage Coordination
Operating within a live shopping mall required detailed planning and continuous pedestrian management to maintain safe access to active retail units and restaurants. All noisy or disruptive works - including floor tiling and structural interventions - were delivered out-of-hours to minimise impact on tenants, diners, and visitors.
The protected status of the building demanded careful coordination with conservation guidelines and heritage specialists. Every intervention was approached with respect for the original structure, ensuring that the integrity of the building remained intact while delivering functional upgrades for modern use.
The works were completed safely and efficiently, delivering key upgrades that improved safety, usability, and flow within a high-traffic commercial setting. The project reflects Built’s ability to execute technically demanding works within historic buildings - combining modern construction standards with heritage stewardship and zero-disruption delivery.
